Billionaire Jeffrey Epstein Surrounded in Sordid Sex Scandals Linked to the First Family of the US Virgin Islands
posted November 18, 2007 - 1:35pmGovernor John P. DeJongh still reeling from the knock down blow he suffered on October 18, 2007, delivered to him by the 27th Legislature when they axed his nominee for Education Commissioner, Dr. Lynn Spampinato. On October 29, 2007, the New York Post’s page 6 article, delivered another punch when they printed a story linking him to Billionaire Jeffrey Epstein.
On the same day Virgin Islanders were made aware of the article while listening to a local radio talk show called “Beloved” that is hosted by local radio personality Mario Moorhead, on St. Croix. The New York Post had printed a story titled Epstein’s Tropic Isle of Babes that linked the Governor with having deep financial ties to the billionaire.
On October 30, 2007, a caller to the local radio show, Roger Morgan’s “Free Speech”, relayed her dissatisfaction for the article. The caller made it clear that she thought the Governor should clear up some points about the article; she felt he owed it to the Virgin Islands people This program opened up the fact that during the gubernatorial campaign of John DeJongh, this was an issue that was raised after Epstein was arrested in July, 2006. Mr. Epstein was being accused of engaging in illicit sexual acts with underage girls. In an article printed by the Virgin Islands Daily News on October 30, 2006, candidate DeJongh was quoted as saying, “I have never even met Jeffrey Epstein, and I have not accepted any campaign donations from him”. Mr. DeJongh issued this statement, notwithstanding the fact that his wife Cecile DeJongh at the time was the Director of the J Epstein VI Foundation.
What was reported in the Virgin Islands Daily News is a sharp contrast to what the New York Post reported. The story also reported that the Billionaire pays the school tuition of all the Governor’s children to attend the prestigious Antilles School that’s located in St. Thomas, were the first family resides. It is also reported that Mr. Epstein dumped $1 million dollars into DeJongh’s campaign for Governor. With a controversial story such as this one you would think that the Governor of the Virgin Islands would have been compelled to issue an official statement discrediting the story; he did not. Governor DeJongh remains quiet on this issue, hoping that if he stays quiet it will go away.
The people of the Virgin Islands are still waiting for answers to the questions that are circulating thru the community to be answered. Do the Governor and First Lady Cecile DeJongh have any personal or professional contacts with Epstein, since his arrest? Does Cecile DeJongh still work for the J Epstein VI Foundation? Does Epstein still pay the tuition for the Governor’s children to attend Antilles School? Did Epstein give 1 Million Dollars to DeJongh’s gubernatorial campaign? Has the Governor or First Lady been to Little St. James Islands that is owned by Epstein, since they took office?
Stay tuned as this shocking story unfolds. Will Virgin Islanders get answers from the man they elected that ran on a campaign slogan of “Government Transparency” or will they continue to get “Government Secrecy?” Are Virgin Islanders now wondering if they made the right choice when they elected John P. DeJongh to be the Governor of these beautiful Virgin Islands, we will see…
