On Binge Drinking

From what I've read, binge drinking is a bigger problem in the US among teens than it is in most European countries. That probably has a lot to do with lower drinking ages over there. It's pretty ridiculous that US teens can vote and join the military at 18, but can't have a beer. Anything that is taboo is going to be more appealing to teens, of course. And that increases the risk for drinking irresponsibly.

If teens can learn responsible drinking from an earlier age, especially in a family setting, I think it's less likely they'll they'll abuse the substance.
