Bioinformatics

Bioinformatics is an up growing field of Biological sciences that can be named as "Shashlik of Computational Sciences & Biological Sciences". Since last years, Biotechnologists and Molecular Biologist are working on genome sequences of different specie and the amount of data is largely increasing everyday. So it became very difficult to save, store and interpret the extensive biological information. Bioinformatics, as a science, promises to give aid to scientists to store, retrieve and interpret complex biological information using statistical, mathematical and IT approaches. Genome analysis to protein structure and function predictions, all are stood under the flag of Bioinformatics. This science uses both the wet lab and dry lab techniques. We can obtain biological information like gene sequence, RNA expression level and protein structure and sequence from wet lab experiments and then this data is interpreted using Bioinformatics software applications. Structure based Drug designing is the most sophisticated approach in Bioinformatics. If Drug designing is applied in regular drug production, it can save 500 million US Dollars of Pharmaceutical industries annually. I hope, in next few years, Bioinformatics will be one of the biggest industries of the world.
