Bioshock Review

Game: BioShock

Platform: Xbox 360 and Windows Vista

The first thing that will strike you the second you start on this epic quest is the graphics. BioShock utilizes the UnrealEngine to it's full potential, bringing the denizons of Rapture to life. BioShock begins as you survive a plane crash in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. You soon find a peculiar lighthouse and within, a bathysphere, transportation into Rapture. You will be awestruck as the Bathysphere plunges into the depths of the ocean and leads you to the underwater city of Rapture. Upon arrival a splicer (lowly resident of Rapture) will kill a man right before your eyes and then attempt to break into the Bathysphere (a horrifying experience indeed.) As the story progresses you will find a variety of weapons from the standard pistol to the crossbow and the chemical launcher. You will also come upon plasmids and tonics powered by strange chemicals called Adam and Eve. Eve is common and easy to attain but Adam is a different story. Small possessed girls known as Little Sisters gaurd the Adam. Sounds easy enough right? Take things from a little girl? Wrong. Little Sisters are guarded by Big Daddies, huge killing machines that are extremely hard to kill but also extremely satisfying to defeat. Aquiring Adam plays a huge part in the games unique RPG elements. New plasmids and tonics can be purchased from Gatherer Gardens, scattered around Rapture. The theme and story of BioShock are superb and the only thing lacking is any form of multiplayer. BioShock is solely a single-player game but an exhilerating one at that.

Pros:
- creative theme and story
- beautiful "next gen" graphics
- unique RPG elements

Cons:
-no multiplayer whatsoever

Rating: 9/10
