The Blame Game

The Blame Game

“Whenever you point a finger in blame, three more are pointing back at you.” Author Unknown

Why are so many people complaining about laws and that the Government is intruding in our lives? I can answer this question quite simply. Public lack of common sense, common courtesy, common ability to follow simple rules and lack of personal responsibilty.

Think about how many of you follow the speed limit postings, these are posted for safety reasons, so that you do not drive so fast as to loose control of your vehicle. Now, I know, 65mph is boring, but read the following reasons for a speed limit. Lack of common sense: How many men shave while driving, how many women put on make-up, how many people eat, read your mail, read the news, talk on the phone or text message while driving? Common sense people, you cannot be in control of your car at 35mph while doing these things, do you really think you can handle an unlimited speed limit?

Why did California feel the need to create a text message and cell phone use law for drivers? Because for some reason people thought they could multi-task in traffic. Common sense would tell you that paying attention to the traffic in front of you, behind you, next to you and your speed limit is enough multi-tasking. Not to mention listening to the radio/CD and watching the roadsigns. Humans do have limits ya know… Common sense folks, plain and simple.

Why do you think the laws are so strict for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol? Because people think they are invincible, they just seem to forget about common sense and common courtesy for the other people who are not invincible, you know, the ones that are hurt or killed because they got ran over? Lacking personal responsibility is pointing your finger in blame. “He shouldn’t have been walking in the crosswalk in accordance to the law, it’s a street for cars, not for walking.”

Why did the government have to create child abuse hotlines and then fines and laws against abusing the child abuse hotlines? Because people lack common sense, common courtesy and the ability to follow simple rules. Hitting a child and depriving a child of basic necessities, among other things, should be common sense no-no’s, but obviously, it isn’t. Filing false accusations does not hurt your ex-partner or that person you don’t like, you are hurting the one person you should be protecting against all harm, physical and emotional, the child, the innocent. I should add society’s immaturity to the list of why the Government is so involved in our lives today.

I do not like the government creating all these laws and rules for me to follow, but I also know that if people would just use common sense and understand that what they do does affect others, then maybe, just maybe the government would step aside.

Until individuals take the blinders off and look in the mirror and make the changes in themselves, there is going to be some group, organization and government office who will make the laws of common sense for them.

So, the next time you hear of a new law, do not blame the Government, blame your fellow man or woman and maybe even yourself… Stop playing the blame game.

And yes, three more point at me.
