Book Review – “Adobe Illustrator CS2 @ Work: Projects you can use on the job”

“Adobe Illustrator CS2 @ Work: Projects you can use on the job” is a great tutorial guide by Pariah S. Burke (SAMS Publishing, 324 pp) that really helps you perform useful tasks and complete meaningful project.

If you can only finish two or three of the projects described in this book, you’d still receive significant kudos from your office manager or supervisor.

And if you work as an independent illustrator and graphic designer, you’d have quite a few services to offer to your clients.

Although it includes detailed sections on how to use the Pen tool, for example, I still think this is not a book for absolute beginners.

If, for example, you do not know the difference between the “Art Board” and the “Printing Area,” or have no idea about the differences between a “raster image” and a “vector image,” probably this is not the first book you should own to start learning how to use the Illustrator.

However, if you already know your way around the Illustrator but are bored and do not know quite what to do with it, here are some of the 29 interesting projects that you can begin and complete A-to-Z with this great step-by-step tutorial book:

DVD Package and Label
Magazine Advertisement
Corporate Identity and Logo
Website Design
Tri-Fold Brochure
Product Packaging
Artwork for Non-Flat Objects

And more…

If you design for a living and if you use the venerable Illustrator, do yourself a favor and get a copy of this great volume. You won’t regret it.
