Brand names

I know that some store brands are just as good and some might be better than brand names but when it comes to salad dressings or crackers or even cereal my family and i are really big fans of kraft, nabisco, and kelloggs real corn flakes, boy do i hate thiose cheap cereals that come only in as bag and no box, call me picky, thats ok with me, my familt eats kraft cheese, and almost all of the nabisco products, exspecially triscuts or wheat thins, no store brand will replace those items as of yet, but,who knows if the economy gets any worse i may be eating bologna and plain bread, i hope not, but if i do have to, i hope its oscar meyer bologna.

RE:Brand names

Kate, you are so right about the soda and ketchup, totally gross, and I agree any thing that has not been processed like the things you mentioned, rice, flour, ect are ok,  but I draw the line on store brand cheeses, lunch meat, ect...and yes my pickyness has rubbed off on my children, its sad to admitt but nether of my kids will eat store brand ice cream, and until  I was in my late twenties, I'd eat any kind of ice cream, I mean who can turn down ice cream? But now adays its breyers or blue bell, or maybe ben and jerry, hmmm, i'm getting hungry.

I concur

Store brands are OK in the box for cereal and crackers, even those knock-off Ritz are OK.

Store brand soda sux, as does store brand and generic ketchup/catsup.  Disgusting, all tasting like vinegar.

I'm with you on the bags of cereal.  Weird.  But rice is OK store brand, it's not like it's processed.  Anything that is in it's regualr form, flour, sugar, those are OK generic as well.  Why?  They come from the same place.

I have noticed that store brand canned vegetables, although packed at the same plants, are not as good as Del Monte or Green Giant.  I also only do name brand baked beans and then still doctor it to mom's standards.

If we do not have grocery standards, what are we teaching our children?  To settle?

Warmest regards and best intentions,

Kate
