BREAKING: John Edwards Endorses Barack Obama

It's reported that former Senator and presidential candidate John Edwards will endorse Barack Obama tonight for the Democratic party nomination.

Obama had announced that a "major" endorsement would be coming tonight, and 1010 WINS radio in New York and other sources are reporting that Edwards will be the person offering that endorsement. Edwards will join Obama at a rally in Michigan at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 14th.

Edwards had run for the nomination this year and in 2004, but had to drop out both times. In 2004 he was eventually chosen as the running mate of presidential candidate John Kerry.

John Edwards has stressed working class values in his campaign, and it is hoped by the Obama campaign that an Edwards endorsement will shore up their candidate's standing with unions and blue-collar workers.

Obama's losses to Hillary Clinton in Pennsylvania, Indiana, and most recently West Virginia have pointed up what many people say is his weakness among working-class voters.
