Breaking: NFL and Comcast Reach Long-Term Agreement for NFL Networks
posted May 19, 2009 - 9:30amLong a bitter bone of contention, Comcast Networks refused to carry the 24/7 NFL Network on its basic tier for customers, assigning it instead to the higher tier. In essence, Comcast was demanding that its customers pay more money to have the same access that digital satellite customers already enjoy. When NFL Network began carrying regular season games, Comcast subscribers were effectively blocked from seeing any of those games.
Comcast has reached a long-term "carriage" agreement with the National Football League to carry NFL Networks in the basic tier.
This agreement also means that all pending lawsuits over the issue will be withdrawn from courts.
