Breeze through Airport Security in Less Than 4 Minutes with Fly Clear TSA Program

Get through airport security screening in less than 4 minutes? The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) created a registered traveler program to entice frequent flyers to sign up for expedited screening. Dubbed Fly Clear, and managed by Clear, the program is currently available in 14 airports with more to be added. The list includes:
• Albany
• Cincinnati
• Denver
• Indianapolis
• Little Rock
• New York-JFK
• New York-LGA
• Newark
• Orlando
• Reno
• San Francisco
• San Jose
• Westchester
Soon to be added airports include Denver, Oakland, Washington Regan National and Washington Dulles.

How it Works
Enrollment is a two step process with a $99.95 annual fee.
Step 1-Online
The first step is an online form that includes a terms and conditions agreement and requires submission of biographical data. The website suggests that users have a driver’s license number, previous home addresses for the past five years, social security number, alien registration number for permanent foreign residents, and a current credit card.

Step 2-In person
With two forms of government approved identification in hand, enrollees visit one of the Clear enrollment stations and undergo fingerprinting and have iris scans and a photograph taken. Enrollment stations may be found in the following states—most located in the airport terminal:
• Arkansas
• California
• Colorado
• Florida
• Georgia
• Indiana
• New Jersey
• New York
• Ohio
• Washington DC
The annual enrollment fee is not assessed until the application process is completed and approved. Upon approval, enrollees receive a Clear card to use to pass through specially designated security lanes.

Benefits
Registered travelers bypass the crowds by using the special separate, designated screening lanes. Clear provides attendants and concierges to help registered travelers get through the Clear lanes.

For frequent flyers, the time saved avoiding the queue may trump the privacy issues of registering and the annual fee. For more information visit http://www.flyclear.com.

Legalized Extortion

It's bad enough that airport security harasses otherwise law-abiding citizens by placing arbitrary demands on what can and cannot be brought onboard an airplane--demands which often seem bereft of simple common sense. Even worse, these arbitrary demands do nothing to increase our security when flying, as evidence by TSA spot-checks at several airports. Now, these same idjits want us to PAY more to fly by subsidizing a veritable 10 Harassments or Less line. If you look at the criteria for applying for the privilege, you'll see a system ready to be exploited by the same identity thieves who give illegal immigrants the appearance of legality. This is just one more example of the government wanting us to trade liberty for a little security of which we will end up with neither.
