Brian Yuzna Strikes Back - in 3-D!
posted October 31, 2009 - 11:25amModern Master of Horror, Brian Yuzna, hasn't directed since 2005 and BENEATH STILL WATERS. Producer-director Yuzna made his name producing the classic RE-ANIMATOR in 1985 and went on directing its two sequels, plus several other more or less succesful horror movies, such as SOCIETY, THE DENTIST and its sequel, and comic book based FAUST.
Yuzna has spent most of the last ten years in Barcelona, Spain, where he was in charge of Fantastic Factory; Filmax's now defunct genre movie division. After quitting that job, he has mainly worked in distribution - but has talked about returning to directing with HOUSE OF RE-ANIMATOR for a couple of years (it's scheduled for 2010).
To everybody's great surprise, Brian is already back in the directing chair - with a movie not listed over at the Internet Movie Database. November means AFM; American Film market, where new and upcoming projects are sold. A company called Celsius just announced an addition to their line-up: AMPHIBIOUS 3D! Directed by ... You guessed it: Brian Yuzna. This is a co-production between Benelux, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore (!) and stars Michael Paré. It's listed as a "horror thriller adventure" about a research team that has to face a pre-historic creature out for vengeance.
A promo will be screened at AFM, and the complete movie is ready for delivery in May 2010, just in time for Cannes.
And yes - the movie is in 3D!

Yeah, well,
Yeah, well, BEYOND RE-ANIMATOR wasn't very good (among other things, it suffered from dubbed Spanish actors), but a movie about the president of the USA being a zombie sounds ... cool. And it's going to star William H. Macy...!
OOKABALLAKONGA!
Brian Yuzna
I'll be waiting for House Of Re-Animator. One of my favorite series.
