Bring the Heat | Scoville Scale Measures Chili Peppers Hotness | How Hot is Too Hot?

How hot is too hot? For some, the answer lies in a simple jalapeno popper. That would be me. The jalapeno has enough kick in it to make me uncomfortable if I eat more than one and some would classify that as a lightweight, if not a complete
pansy-arse.
For others, these are the hard-core pepper eaters, a red savina habanero is a perfect fit with their evening meal. They have no problem with watering eyes, runny noses and random expletives flying from their mouths with their meal.
And yet, for others who would like to venture in to the hot chili pepper world but are unsure of how hot is too hot, there is the Scoville Scale for reference.
The link to the Scolville Scale provides a pepper-to-pepper comparison of the level of capsaicin found in each one, starting with the lovely bell pepper and working its painful way up to pure capsaicin.
