Bryce Dallas Howard As Spidermans First Love

Spiderman has always been one of my favorite super-heros. Spiderman 3 was certainly a great movie. The introduction of the Sandman and Venom was a stroke of genius.

Kirstin Dunst is always superbe as Mary Jane Watson, Peter Parkers emotional and sometimes confused sweetheart. However, what many fans of the Spiderman genre may not remember is that Mary Jane was not Peter Parker's first love!

The first love of Peter Parker was a blonde college Co-ed, Gwen Stacy portrayed perfectly by the beautiful new rising star Bryce Dallas Howard in Spiderman 3. Gwen's first appearance came in The Amazing Spider-Man #121 (December 1965).

Peter meets Gwen while they are attending school at Empire State University. During this time Peter is distracted, due to his Aunt May being very sick and initially shows little interest in Gwen. However, this soon changes as Peter and Gwen begin to date. It is obvious to any Spider-man fan that Peter really loves Gwen.

Tragically Gwen dies after being thrown off the George Wasington Bridge by The Green Goblin. Spiderman tries to save her, attempting to catch her with his webbing, but she dies before he can pull her out of the water (The Amazing Spider- Man #121 June 1975). Spiderman is crushed over her death and blames himself for not being able to save her.

Bryce Dallas Howard is fantastic as Gwen Stacy. She makes Gwen come alive as a strong character and important person in Spider-mans life. Actually I have always felt that Gwen would have been a better choice for Peter. In Spiderman 3 she is always upbeat, positive and steady, in contrast to Mary Jane who often seems confused, uncertain and just a bit moody. Certainly Gwen would be my choice for a girl-friend.

As attracted as I am to the up-beat Gwendolyn Stacy, I am even more impressed with Bryce Dallas Howard. I had never seen her before Spider-man 3. Now I have her photo on my screensaver at the office and another at home. She has become one of my favorite screen stars. Recently I saw her in the movie "Lady in The Water." She was stunning in that film.

One thing I like about Bryce, is her unique ability to make dramatic changes in her appearance. As Gwen Stacy she appeared as a full figured very attractive college student. However, as the cryptic "Story" in "Lady in The Water" she is quite slim, sports her natural red hair and is equally as stunning. Every photo I have seen, she looks different and I think she is so cool.

She is set to play Kate Conner in the upcoming Terminator Salvation(2009)currently being filmed. This should be a great film. Bryce has certainly found her calling in Hollywood. She is excellent in the role of a heroine. She is a very good actress with an almost magical charm and unique style that is difficult to duplicate.

Bryce Dallas Howard

Thanks for the tip on the movie The Village. I think Bryce is fantastic. If you check sites on the web you will find some great information and beautiful photos. She is now in my top ten most attractive ladies. I did an article for a womens publication and listed what I consider my top ten most beautiful and attractive ladies, which included: Halle Berry, Alicia Keys, Natalie Portman, Ashley Judd and Bryce. I may start a Bryce Howard fan club. Thanks, Jerry

The Village

This is a great article! +1 I am also a fan of Bryce, although she first appeared on my radar in another M. Night Shyamalan movie, The Village. I would recommend that movie before Lady of the Water but don't read any reviews of it because it does have the Shyamalanesque twisted ending. DO YOU HAVE THE WRITE STUFF?
