Bubba the Stunt Dog
posted April 23, 2009 - 8:21pmWe had a Pomeranian named Bubba a few years back, he was a tri-color handsome male that was great friends with my Black Lab mix, and they became quite the pair.
At that time we lived on ten acres in the middle of nowhere, and it was 1 7/10 miles off of the nearest black top road. There were no neighbors for miles with pine trees and mountains all around. It was absolutely a perfect place.
We acquired Bubba from my dad who had already named him, and so we welcomed him into our home with the other dogs of the family. Peanut our Shih-tzu, Pepper our Lab mix, and Slinky, our miniature Dachshund were the other dogs.
Bubba was always getting into trouble of some kind, like wondering off in the woods and vanishing for two or three days. When he came back he was all bloodied up with one eye bulging out, so we took him to the vet.
Another time he was in the car with us, and was riding on the driver side trying to hang out the window in the breeze, when all at once he fell out. We were doing about 20 0r 25 miles per hr. at the time.
He rolled down the road and flipped end over end. Cars were swerving and hitting their brakes. My wife Sherry jumped out of the car and screamed “BUBBA” and he is running around trying to find that familiar voice, but wasn’t real sure were he was anymore.
From that moment on he became "Bubba the Stunt Dog", I mean after all of that, he wasn’t even hurt. We still have a good laugh about that.
Then one night we heard a ruckus outside, and we ran for the door. Bubba and Pepper had a huge Pack Rat cornered. The rat ran one way, and Bubba would stop it. It would run the other way, and Pepper would stop it; So I said, "get it!," and Bubba made one lunge and grabbed the rat by the throat, and flung it around and slammed it to the ground; breaking its neck killing it instantly. Pretty amazing considering the pack rat was almost as big as Bubba.
Then later on an elderly friend of ours had a stroke and needed a close friend, so we gave her Bubba. She took Bubba to the Veterinarian and found out that he had Heart Worms, so she saved Bubba's life. We miss Bubba, but he is now the King of her house and she is doing great as well.
