Buffalo Bills fans are Mentally Ill

Being a Buffalo Bills fan is a mental illness. Every year we start out Manic and then the bottom drops and we go into a depression. I am genetically engineered to be a Bills fan. I can't stop hoping that someday before I die they will finally win the big one. Bills fans are filled with a optimism caused by several key moments in Football history. It started with The 1990 Super Bowl. The season was picture perfect the game until the last second was one of the greatest in history. Then in what would become a pattern the bottom fell out. In the last second Scott Norwood a Pro Bowl kicker choked on a chicken bone and the ball went wide right. It went further right then Newt Gingrich. It was the most heartbreaking moment in a future filled with heartbreak and yet every August we find hope. The next year we made it again and lost to the Redskins. Then the 92 season looked like it may be over except for the one game that gives the Bills Fans hope no matter what. Barely making the wild card playoffs and without Jim Kelly and Thurman Thomas Buffalo did the impossible. Frank Reich who at the time also led the greatest comeback in college football history rallied the Bills. 5 unanswered touchdowns later and in overtime Steve Christie would cap the game making Bills fans believe that God loved them. The following two super bowls proved that was wrong but non the less we cling to that game. After the 0-4 Superbowl run the Bills began a rebuilding process that has thus far proved it was more destruction then reconstruction. Oh we have had some great players and great games but coaching errors cost us a lot. The Music City Miracle was proof that logic had no place in the Buffalo Bills organization when Coach Wade Philips who interestingly enough was a former coach for Houston who became Tennessee started perienial Bills whipping boy Rob Johnson rather then Doug Flutie who had gotten them into the game. We held on till the last second when a kickoff return turned into a series of bizarre offensive plays as time ran out. We Lost again. And it hasn't gotten any better there was the JP Loseman experimentt which was very similar to the Rob Johnson Experiment. There has been enough off field drama to fill a reality TV network. Then Last year 5-1 when Trent Edwards went down and JP lead us right into the sewer. It is a brief history of the pain we face on a yearly Basis. Why do we do it? Why live with the Manic Depression of being a Bills Fan. Well first off all our narrow view of history has shown that “Nobody Circles the Wagons like the Buffalo Bills” Second We live for hope just like the democratic party. I know very little of God but I know this he is not a Buffalo Bills fan.
