Bush's Memorial Day Speech
posted May 27, 2008 - 9:55amPresident Bush said in his Memorial Day address, "On Memorial Day, we honor the heroes who have laid down their lives in the cause of freedom, resolve that they will forever be remembered by a grateful Nation, and pray that our country may always prove worthy of the sacrifices they have made."
This address on Memorial Day was given by the same man who dishonors the sacrifices of all Veterans when he, behind a veil of lies and deceit invaded Iraq and caused the deaths of thousands of our troops and Iraqi civilians in a country that posed no threat to our national security. Holding those suspected of being terrorists at Guantanamo Bay without a trial or legal representation, torturing prisoners in America's name and disrespecting our Constitution.
Bush claims he supports the troops, but lies when he threatens to veto bills passed by Congress that gives support to the troops, especially those returning to civilian life after being in the military, or those soldiers seeking much needed medical care.
As a result of this occupation of Iraq, 4,082 men and women have lost their lives, thousands injured both physically and mentally. Suicides of returning soldiers at an all time rate. President Bush is responsible for these deaths and injuries as if he had fired the bullets and IED's himself.
