California Supreme Court Rules Ban on Gay Marriage To Be Unconstitutional
California Supreme Court lifts the ban on gay marriage deeming it unconstitutional. Same sex marriage has been illegal in California and now gay couples can look forward to enjoying the same constitutional rights that anybody else enjoys. California is now the second US state, after Massachusetts, to allow same-sex marriage. Not a minute to late...
"Limiting the designation of marriage to a union 'between a man and a woman' is unconstitutional and must be stricken from the statute," California Chief Justice Ron George said in the written opinion.
