Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2 says no to coop story, but yes to coop missions!

I for one am not a huge CoD knowledgebase about all of their games or insane online guy that hits 10th prestige early on, but I will be among the first to boast about Infinity Ward's work on the story for their first Modern Warfare game.  In case you weren't there or just want a refresher, the game had no coop story which let a lot of people down.  Call of Duty : World At War came along with coop in their story which made a lot of gamers happy.  I played both games and don't remember a lot of WaW's campaign because of screaming in headsets and a hastily thrown in(or so it felt) coop element that felt that it was designed for single player with extra people carelessly thrown in.  I loved the Nazi Zombie stages, and am happy to see that with Infinity Ward back to usher in MW2 I expect a superb and truly epic single player experience.   They have chosen to stick to their guns with a stricly single player storyline but have added a new series of missions called "Special Ops" which are specially designed missions with 2-player coop.  These are tailored specifically for coop meaning a natural flow and required teamwork without taking away from the storyline(think of "Mile High Club", the hidden level at the end of MW, but with coop).

I cannot express how much better I liked MW than I did WaW except to say I hit 1000/1000G on MW extremely fast and had WaW for quite awhile and never finished the achievements, I got bored of multiplayer map glitchers who felt they needed to cheat to get kills and didn't want to play online anymore, and didn't really feel pulled into the campaign much at all.  If a Call of Duty game could design the whole campaign with coop in mind from the ground up it could be a ton of fun, but designing a story and then throwing extra players into it just to boast an extra feature is a horrible way to handle it.  My friends and I look forward to running through the Lost Planet 2 coop campaign because from what gameplay we have managed to play together it feels like a lot of fun.

Anyone else glad that MW2 promises an epic storyline that pulls you in or are you just wanting to slaughter everything with your friends in a way that Special Ops won't satisfy you?  I love my coop on games, but only when it feels natural and is done in a way that everyone involved gets a ton of enjoyment from, and I think Special Ops was a great idea.  I really enjoyed the Army of Two coop campaign and to a lesser extent the Gears of War and Gears of War 2 coop campaigns.
