Calling All Pagan Parents

Calling All Pagan Parents

Are you a Pagan parent who's looking for a program, book, etc. for your child with more of a pagan focus? Perhaps you're considering homeschooling, but would rather have a more pagan-friendly curriculum. Or, you're looking for a book for your children with a pagan/wiccan friendly focus?

This is a fairly new blog, but it promises to add a new entry every day, with other interesting tidbits that might be of particular note to pagan parents.

If You Mean 'Sanskrit,' No; but "Sand Script," Maybe

The title you're talking about is ~sort of~ a Yoda-quip from STAR WARS V. I suppose I 'study' such dialogue so casually, I expect to sound casual. I also use '~' as sub-HTML for 'italics.' If you understand that, cool; if not, here comes the wind! lol Uncle MythMan---His Mission? http://www.xomba.com/the_new_mythman_plan -How You Can Join Him in It? http://linkbrander.com/go/65240 http://linkbrander.com/go/65241 http://linkbrander.com/go/65242 -P.S. Sand Script

Is the title of your last comment in Sand Script? I can't understand a word of it.

"No ~Try~; Just Do, or Do Not," but You ~Do~ Show Us the Way

Nichiren Buddhism's central teaching is ~Nam Myoho Renge Kyo~. Ignoring ~Nam Myoho Renge~ for a moment, ~Kyo~ means 'Universal Sound.' It's the echo/response to the truth proclaimed, evidence that truth is true. Maybe it's not any of our goals to 'show people the way,' but--by participating here--we make -our- ways visible. If our readers are smart enough, they will choose to follow the ways that are smart. My way was the ideal Christian Way for a while (Bible-Belt-Buckle Roman Catholic post-"Baby Boomers"), but it's goodness couldn't stand in my mind against a) the possibility of the "better life of fame-and-fortune" the world seemed to offer and b) my dad's backstabbing ways. But before the Roman Catholic 'veil' was lifted for me, I was taught (like most Christians, I imagine) that anything supernatural that didn't attribute it's power to God was 'from the Devil.' (That includes 'if it didn't attribute power at all.') That's all that blind sheep need to know. Praise God for the power of sight, that toughens us to 'the Devil's' lures. lol With More Devotion to 'HotGirl33705' than Words Dare Express, Uncle MythMan http://www.xomba.com/the_new_mythman_plan http://www.xomba.com/referral/77778740 P.S. LOL!

I wasn't actually trying to show anyone "the way" ;) But, thanks. I actually wrote a xombyte that attempted to define paganism. It's not necessarily nature appreciation. It's actually an umbrella term, much like "Abrahamic faith", used to refer to a number of religions. It could be reconstructionism (attempting to reconstruct an older religion, like Kemetic or Celtic or Nordic, etc.), it could be Wicca (A newer religion, in the grand scheme of things, that's much more on the nature appreciation side of the equation then most reconstructionists), It could be eclectic (taking what one deems mostplausible from any number of religions, and generally adding a bit of ones own), and so on. The Devil worship camp I've never really been able to understand. It's really difficult to worship something that you don't believe in for one. And two, the Bible makes a pretty clear distinction between the Devil and the gods worshipped by the Pagans of the time.

You ~might~ want to clarify what Paganism is. I've seen it painted as 'devil-worship' or 'nature-appreciation'; and I *know* it's the second, but I've got 'Christian' friends who dismiss it as the first.
