Calorie Shifting Diets Explained

Calorie shifting is becoming a very popular way to lose weight, and the idea behind it couldn't be simpler. By alternating your daily intake of calories, you body becomes confused and becomes unable to hold onto it's fat reserves. This allows a person to lose a substantial amount of weight in a relatively short period of time.

Here are some of the basics involved in calorie shifting:

Count Those Calories

An easy way to do this is to first decide how many calories you want to cut out each day. Subtract that number from your normal daily need, which is based on you age, height and current weight. Take this number and multiply it by 7 (7 days in a week). Get a pen and some paper or use a text file on your computer and divide that number up into different values, one for each day of the week. Make sure that those values add back up to the original number. It's extremely important that these are different for each day of the week in order to trick your body.

Eat Several Times Per Day

Grazing is the process of eating several small meals every day to keep your body constantly burning calories, thus increasing your overall metabolism. Put simply, the higher your metabolism, the more calories you will burn in any given day. These meals should all have different caloric values, and the key is to make sure that they are actual meals. Snacking is a no-no.

Drink Water, Lots Of It!

Make sure you drink a lot of water while calorie shifting to keep the process going. Water helps your metabolism by allowing food to digest quicker and it keeps you hydrated as your body adjusts.
