Camel Orbs Melt in Your Mouth

Camel Orbs Melt in Your Mouth

I live in a 'small' media city (Burbank, CA) and they recently passed laws that it is illegal to smoke cigarettes in most parts of the city. I've heard of plenty of other cities that have done the same thing and I actually think it's a great idea. I have friends that smoke and none of them really find much wrong with the new laws besides having to walk a little further to 'light up.' It keeps second hand smoke down, kids away from cigarettes, and you don't ciggy butts all over the sidewalks anymore.

Well, the tobacco industry has taken notice to all these new laws going through and are now catering to a smokeless atmosphere. Fist I see them come out with Snus. A tobacco product that while it's like dip or chewing tobacco, there is no need to spit. It sits under your lip discretely while you are working in your office.

"We've been very pleased with the consumer response" to Marlboro Snus, says David Sutton, spokesman of Altria Group, which owns Philip Morris USA. He says smokeless is a "growing category" with sales rising 6%-8% annually. He says cigarette sales are falling 2%-3% each year.

So now I've just seen a new product from Camel called 'Camel Orbs.' They are marketing it for smokers who can't smoke in their office or restaurant. The Camel Orb is an aspirin-sized tablet that, supposedly, melts in your mouth.

Gross, right?!?

I mean I've enjoyed cigars or cigarettes here and there but I would never want any thing with tobacco 'melting' in my mouth!!

"This is a wake-up call for the public health community," says Gregory Connolly of Harvard School of Public Health. I couldn't agree with him more!
