Can any one religion claim their God is the true God?
posted June 28, 2008 - 2:16amThere are so many different religions around the world that people follow and I was wondering if any one of those religions can claim that "their God" is the true God and their path is the right path. That, only following that belief system would lead one to salvation or heaven.
The many pagan religions or eastern religions are considered inferior and "not true." Certainly, it seems the Abrahamic religions hold this view. Perhaps, Islam seems to emphasize this more than the other two (Judaism and Christianity).
However, I wonder if any one religion can claim to be "true." I don't think so. I believe every man or woman who worships God (by whichever name) truly and with devotion will reach God. The name by which we refer to him surely doesn't matter - does it?
Come to think of it - so many conflicts and wars have been fought in the name of God, to sometimes enforce their version of God on others (called nonbelievers). I don't think people should feel superior about their system of beliefs and be pompous and arrogant. Fact is no one religion can claim to own God.
The very fact that there exists so many different religions is testament to the fact that there is no one "true religion." If there was something like that, the whole world will be following that "true religion" by now.
