Philadelphia is coming on strong as a wild card this year. Soundly handing a beating to the Dallas Cowboys with a score of 44-6 in Dallas and then moving past the Minnesota Vikings with a 26-14 win, the Eagles are finally playing solidly and have gained some momentum which has given Eagles fans some hope after a somewhat rocky season.

1980, the last time the Philadelphia Phillies won the world Series, the Eagles also won the NFC Championship and made it to the Super Bowl where they, unfortunately, lost to the Oakland Raiders 27-10.

The Eagles finished Finished first in the NFC East Division with a regular season record of 12-4-0, they went on to beat the Dallas Cowboys 20-7 in the conference championship to become the 1980 NFC Champions.The Eagles then lost to the Oakland Raiders 27-10 in SuperBowl XV.

Will the Eagles turn this up and down and up again 2008 season around, bounce back strong enough as a wildcard for the conference championship and make it into Super Bowl XLIII? If the Eagles DO make it to the big game, will they be able to keep the momentum going and finally win it for the die-hard Philly fans that have been there through all of the ups and downs?

What a year it would be for Philadelphia if they could reclaim the title "City of Champions" and what a party THAT would be! Folks in Philly are still elated about the Phillies and if the Eagles could bring the Vince Lombardi Trophy with a win in Tampa in February, the City of Brotherly Love would go completely nuts!
