Can't The Media Leave the Travolta's Alone?

Can't The Media Leave the Travolta's Alone?

I heard on one of the news gossip shows that John Travolta's son, Jett, died recently. Immediately I felt such sorrow for the Travolta family because I've been there. My son lived a much shorter life, but was still loved just as much. I remember the feelings that completely overwhelmed me. I can't imagine being a celebrity and not being able to have my grief and desperation in private.

On TMZ, X17online and Perez Hilton there are numerous mentions of the Travolta tragedy. Entertainment Tonight is running continuous coverage of the story. The family is going to be featured in People Magazine this week. And I'm sick of it. I'm ashamed to have a degree in journalism right now. I'm ashamed that my colleagues have lowered themselves to these substandards just for the money. It literally leaves me with a sick feeling in my stomach.

I hope the media will back off this story, and let the family grieve in peace. I pray the media give them privacy. Unfortunately, I know the vultures will continue to circle until the story is picked clean.
