Career: jobs that are available in Vegas

Las Vegas has many casinos and resorts. They're the main industries that make up the work force here. Everywhere you go, you'll see hotels and casinos. This is where people work and this is where they make the most money here in Vegas. There're also lawyers and doctors of course. There're some businesses that are not so hot in Vegas and it's hot in other states. The mall is great but people here won't pay several hundred dollars for a purse. They might pay that much in California. People here don't socialize that much and a lot of people here are old. The young and hip crowd are in some other states. This is Las Vegas and it's a dessert. People here work primarily in the large casinos and hotels.
Types of Jobs

People here often work as a card dealer, cocktail waitress, model, host, dancer, entertainer, manager, promotions, food services, cooks, bartender, accountant, cab driver and many more. There're also business owner, lawyers, doctors, accountants, professors, and policemen. There're not a lot of private businesses here. People do more business in other states than here. It's hard to compete with the big casino unless you open a business in another town that's far away from the strip.
Wages

People make decent money here in Vegas. They can make anywhere from $300-$400 a day. They can make more than that on a holiday or on the weekends. Doctors and lawyers will always make more anywhere they live. Management here makes a lot of money. If they work in a casino, they can make anywhere from $100k- $500k a year. It depends on their title. Dancers here make a lot of money. A lap dance can be anywhere from $300-$800. They also have private dances that are very expensive. Cocktails waitresses make about $300-$500 a day. It depends on the crowd or where she works. If she works in a VIP nightclub then she'll make more than at a regular bar in a small casino. It depends on the casino too. People who go to smaller casino might not tip at all. The food and beverage industries here is where the money is at. People make a lot of money as a server or as a cook. All the jobs are in food and beverages. A cook can make around $400 a day and a server can make the same.
Workplace Requirements

They're strict here and they won't hire people with a criminal record or poor credit. This is why if you have a criminal record, you should look for jobs outside of the casino because there's so much money in the casino. They're afraid of theft. They make you take a drug test prior to employment acceptance. Here in Vegas, you can get a job if you know someone in the casino. If you don't know them, it's harder to get a job.
