Carmen Winstead Was Victim of a Hate Crime!

Carmen Winstead Was Victim of a Hate Crime!

See how easy it is to make stuff up on the Internet? I'll bet you clicked this link with ideas good and bad about what this article was going to say or claim.

This may come as a shock to those who continue to pollute the Internet with reposts upon reposts upon reposts of this plain silly urban legend. Carmen Winstead was not a victim of a hate crime. Carmen Winstead was not killed in a sewer. Carmen Winstead was not pushed. If such a person actually existed, I'd say it would be closer to the truth to say she jumped rather than have to read one more reposting of a disprovable urban legend.

Superstitions are created out of ignorance to explain what someone does not have the knowledge or inclination to research and understand. If we live our lives based on the belief that there are no coincidences and everything happens for a reason, we can begin to understand the world around us is just one part of a Larger Picture. That's the difference between really living life and living a life based on fear.

There are many excellent resources available on the Internet to research those "scary true" stories that make their way around the Internet hoping to snare impressionable minds. Here is what Snopes has to say about the myth of Carmen Winstead:
http://www.snopes.com/horrors/ghosts/winstead.asp

The people who are alleged to have died after failing to bleat and repost the story died of other causes completely unrelated to Carmen Winstead or the ghost of Carmen Winstead or for even having a stray thought related to Carmen Winstead or ghosts in general, if they existed.

If you believe that the ghost of the mythical Carmen Winstead is real and that she has some power over whether you live or die, then you have issues that go beyond stories that spread over the Internet.

Snopes is great!

I regularly use snopes with interesting but questionable emails I receive. I try not to pass on anything that is not true and often will rely to the sender with the link proving or disproving an email "fact". It only takes a moment to prove or disprove... It's a shame people will take that moment to send false information, but not to educate themselves or others. I dare ya...c'mon you know you want to...Smile! MJ

Thanks for posting this

Thanks for posting this. I just read the earlier post "they pushed her" and I had not heard this urban legend before, but found it objectionable and shocking... Thanks for posting the truth here and saving me the trouble of going to "snopes" to check it out. That is such a good resource. There is such an amazing amount of junk and garbage on the internet and apparently there are millions of people who believe so much of it. Have a wonderful, magical Happy New Year Angel
