Cartoon Encyclopedia Brings Back Childhood Memories
posted August 22, 2007 - 10:31pmDon Markstein's Toonopedia bills itself as, "A vast repository of toonological knowledge."
The term "toon" can be defined as refering to a cartoon or cartoon character, either animated (with motion and usually with sound) or still (comic book or strip).
Set up alphabetically, "Toonopedia" contains entries similar to an encyclopedia. Listings include information such as a short synopsis of what the toon is about, how long it ran, which company produced it, and who voiced the characters.
Browsing the entries brought back some great childhood memories. What a thrill it was to turn on the television every Saturday morning! We would jump out of bed and run downstairs to warm up the tubes in the old Philco. And there we would sit, eating Quisp cereal while watching our favorite animated friends.
