The Cash for Clunkers Eligible Vehicles list has been established in accordance with the requirements put forth within the Cash for Clunkers program (also officially called the Consumer Assistance to Recycle and Save Act, or simply CARS) which was enacted on 24 June 2009, and the published regulations issued by NHTSA or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on 24 July 2009.
