Cass in Space

Sometimes (all the time) Cass yearned to be free,
to be empty, no body, no grammar, nothing.
That's when she took to the hills.

Up there, in that cluster of boulders,
where Tim and she used to play as kids,
she would sit for hours, un-becoming.

She floated in space, out of man's reach,
leaving pieces of herself with the stars
when dawn came round to reclaim her.
