Celebrate the Poetry of Pablo Neruda

Celebrate the Poetry of Pablo Neruda

On this date in 1904, Nobel Prize winning poet Pablo Neruda was born in Chile.

His book entitled Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair is the sole reason I don't write love poetry. The poems in this book are so beautiful, I don't think that they can be trumped.

Neruda is also known for writing about everyday objects such as trees, onions and lemons but with such a poetic take on the subjects that it takes your breath away.

Glad you liked it. I know

Glad you liked it. I know what you mean - I wish I had such an economical way of expressing something so deeply.

What a great poem!

Thanks for the tip on Thomas Lux!! That was AWESOME! It blows me away to find words so well-crafted that I feel like putting down my pen and calling it a day. Even Bart Simpson Likes

Even Bart Simpson Likes Neruda (well, kind of). I haven't read as much Neruda as I should but what I have read is exceptional. Do you happen to know Thomas Lux? Nothing at ALL like Neruda, but he has one poem that I particularly, called "A Little Tooth," which does an excellent job of summing up one particular viewpoint of parenting.
