So I'm sure you've noticed the TCP/IP January 1st google art, but don't know what TCP/IP is? Celebrating 25 years of TCP/IP on the new year of 2008. Here's a little bit about TCP and IP:

IP moves packets of data from node to node. IP forwards the packets based on a 4 byte destination address. The address is the IP number.

TCP supports the data and detects errors, lost data, and it also starts the retransmission until the data is completely received. A name that is given to the sub-routines that provide access to TCP/IP is the Sockets.
