Celtic Thunder Releases First CD
posted March 2, 2008 - 11:45pmJust in time for St. Patrick's Day, the relatively new Irish music group Celtic Thunder is releasing its first CD in the U.S. on March 4th.
Celtic Thunder (which used to be called Celtic Man) is an all-male singing group made up of five individuals from Ireland and Scotland ranging in age from 14 to 40. Celtic Thunder won't start its first U.S. tour until October, but you'll have plenty of chances to hear and see them before then: besides the new CD, they also have a DVD of a live performance in Dublin, which is coming out the same day as the CD.
And performances from the CD and DVD have been played on public television in the U.S., which is conducting a pledge drive. People who pledge to the TV stations will get the first shot at the tickets for Celtic Thunder's upcoming tour, a press release said.
You can also buy the CD and DVD from Rego Records, and probably in many mainstream music stores as well.
The songs Celtic Thunder performs range from traditional Celtic songs such as "Mountains of Mourne" as well as some contemporary rock and pop songs.
You'll be able to see Celtic Thunder on TV during coverage of the New York City's St. Patrick's Day Parade, though it's unclear whether the group will be performing during the parade or riding on a float or doing something else.
