It appears that the big hit business in 2007 may have only been a fad. Cereality the premium priced cereal dispensary has barred the door of all but 4 locations. With soaring fuel prices soon to hit $5 a gallon and the current recession we all must face it is no wonder that it is suddenly making sense to spend $4 on a whole box of cereal rather than on a single "custom bowl" of cereal.

Pajama clad cerealologists stood bye to serve you up to 30 different cereals and 30 different toppings.

Trendy can be a lot of fun, but when drastic times abound, drastic measures soon follow. Last years cream of the crop is this years "Snap, Crackle, FLOP"

It is unknown as to what kind of a profit that the owners have managed to eek out in this ever so short time span, but according to the franchisepick website they sunk in at least $300,000.00 to make Cereality a reality. Consuming up to 5,000 gallons of milk per store probably didn't leave much room for big profits seeing as to how the increasing prices of milk have even affected giants like Starbucks.

Paying $4 or $5 for cold cereal with mix-ins, when you could buy a whole box for less... and when the "restaurant" isn't really adding any value to what you could get out of the box, except the added treats.

Fuel and grain prices certainly didn't help. But at least the U.S. isn't having riots, like the ones that happened recently in Italy when the price of pasta shot up.
