Cesar Chavez To Be Honored with Street Name - Portland, Oregon

Portland's 39th Avenue may soon become "Cesar Chavez." Three streets were looked at, Broadway, Grand, and 39th. Under current rules for renaming streets, streets can be renamed as long as they do not have historical merit. Broadway, which use to be 7th Street downtown was renamed in 1913, to Broadway when the Broadway Bridge was opened. Grand, which use to be 5th Avenue was renamed Grand when East Portland joined Portland in 1893.
So, 39th is the most likely to get a new name. 39th is a long street, which intersects most of the neighborhoods from Northeast to Southeast...
