CFD trading lesson 2,What is CFD

A CFD -"contract for difference" - is an agreement to exchange the difference in value of a share or index or other financial products between the time at which a contract is opened and the time at which it is closed.
The contract is effectively renewed and rolled forward everyday - you can keep your position open indefinitely, unlike the futures.
CFD is one of the derivative products, sprout from the futures and options. You are trading on margin and you can go long or short on a postion.

You are trading on margin. You only pay 1000$ to own 10000$ contracts valure shares. With any form of trading on margin, while the benefits can be huge, so can the losses. When shares price change 10%,you can win 100% or lose all the money.
