Check out the World's Largest 1080p HD Screen--180 Feet Long!

The saying goes, they make everything bigger in Texas. Nowhere is this more true than the Dallas Cowboys new $1.1 Billion Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. One of the most noticeable features, once you get past the twin arches (twice as wide as the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri), which are used to support the world's largest retractable roof.

Once you are inside, however, that all changes. Suspended from those arches and running from 20 yard line to 20 yard line on each side of the stadium are the world's largest Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Vision 1080p High Definition television screens. Each end zone also has smaller HD screens that stretch the width of the field. In other words, there will not be a bad seat in the house.

The main screens run a whopping $40 million each.

The Dallas Cowboys' home opener for the 2009-10 season is on Sunday Night Football, September 20, 2009 versus the New York Giants, although Cowboys Stadium will host its first preseason game versus the Tennessee Titans on Friday, August 21, 2009.

The first event will be a George Strait-Reba McIntyre concert on June 6, 2009.

I'll be awe struck when TV becomes 1080i 3-D - Holovision

+1 Being that big I have to wonder how much clarity there is. Since HDTV relies on 1,080 lines to make its picture it would seem only logical that the more you stretch 1080 lines of image there would have to be a loss of sharpness of picture. I would be curious to know how the manufacturer got around the problem. No matter how big or how small the TV is they still work off the same principle - 1080 lines of image.
