Chewable mouthwash
Does eating parsley really help banish bad breath? Quite possibly. Though it’s often referred to as a natural deodorizer, there is no specific research that chewing a spring or two of parsley freshens your breath. It was found that chlorophyll- the compound in parsley that gives it its green color does indeed have a deodorizing effect.
Tablets that contain chlorophyll in, a related synthetic compound, are given to people with colostomies, as well as those with an inherited disorder that makes their urine smell fishy, to reduce odor. You can buy various pills, liquids, mints and gums containing chlorophyll or chlorophyllin, but some contain only small amounts of the active compound. Research suggests you need 100 to 300 milligrams a day to be effective.
As for parsley, while there’s no conclusive proof it will do the trick, it does contain chlorophyll, and there’s certainly no harm in trying it. Besides, you’ll gain a few nutrients- vitamin A, C and K, folate and potassium among them-to boot.
