Chihuahua, the perfect lap dog.

What is better than a dog that eats little, requires little space, and doesn't need to be taken out every day for exercise, yet still gives the same amount of love as a full size dog? Then the Chihuahua is the perfect dog for you. The Chihuahua is the smallest recognized breed of dog in the world.

Even though this dog might be pint sized, they are still excellent watch dogs. Chihuahuas are courageous breed. They aren't the least bit intimidated larger dogs.

The Chihuahua is an easily trainable, very loyal breed. It seems to have fewer health problems then any other small dog breed. If you own a Chihuahua, it's probably best to keep it side, they are ideal for apartment living. They live for attention and human contact.

With the little size, some precautionary mesaures should be taken. They can easily be injured or killed by being stepped on, sat on or squeezed too hard. They have very little sense of height and they should not be unattended on surfaces any higher than 1 foot. If they get scared and jump they can easily break a bone.
