Children's Book: Where the Buttercups Grow

I recently read to a friend's chlid the most delightful book I've read in ages. The title, Where the Buttercups Grow, gives a taste of what author Shelley Meyer had in mind. The point of the book is that each buttercup in nature requires care and nurturing, not pollution and trash, in order to grow and make our world beautiful.

The plot revolves around a field of buttercups that become sad and die as a result of mistreatment of the land on which they thrived. The children cause part of this disaster but eventually notice and begin to react to help the buttercups return.

If you are teaching your child to read, this darling book which is full of colorful illustrations, is perfect because the words are simple yet meaningful. If your child has begun to read, this is a book they should own and will certainly read again and again.

Published in Canada by Aaspirations Publishing, each book sold results in one tree being planted. So your purchase helps your child and the world in which your child lives. I know I will be buying several copies for children's Christmas gifts this holiday season.

Teachers that wish to use this book in their school classes can even download a free Teacher's Guide to provide ideas on making the book even more meaningful to the youngsters. It's worth considering as a classroom book because the Teacher's Guide has many fun projects and ways of presenting lesson plans which are practical and effective for helping kids learn about ecology and nature.
