Choosing the right keywords for your website - Adsense 101
posted December 10, 2007 - 7:46pmIf you work with the Adsense program, there are some basics you need to know.
The first is to never use borders around Adsense ad units--there's just no point. A border tells people to ignore the ads inside the lines. You want your ads to blend into your website cohesively.
That's the first lesson of my Adsense 101 primer.
The second lesson is that you want to use good keywords in your content. In order to attract the right ads to be displayed on your website, your keywords need to be well-chosen and prevalent in your writing. This doesn't mean to stuff your articles with keywords, it means use them wisely.
And some keywords bring up higher paying Adsense ads on your website. So this is something to keep in mind.
Keyword Tracker has a good free section you can use to help you narrow down the keywords you want to use in your niche.

Another resource is Google's Adwords Keyword research tool.

These tools should give you some information on how often your keywords are searched for in search engines, so you can get a gauge on the competition.
