Christmas is my favorite holiday and time of year just in general.
posted December 21, 2007 - 2:53pm Like many people, I have loved Christmas since I was old enough to know who Santa Claus is. But since becoming a mother, Christmas has become something completely different for me. I have developed a tradition in my family of pulling out the decorations right after Halloween.
We
almost bypass Thanksgiving altogether. We begin decorating our home pretty much in the beginning of November, although slow so as to not forget that Thanksgiving is coming. But I have noticed that these days, it's not just me, not that it really ever was. But two weeks before Thanksgiving this year I heard at least three radio stations playing 24-hour Christmas music. I love it! I usually start right after Halloween myself. So of course, I automatically change the presets in my car to these stations. It's a nice change from the Barney and preschool music we listen to so our children don't have to hear the annoying bull from most radio stations. Our oldies station started at the beginning of November and I have to say, you don't hear anything that should be rated "not for kids" so we leave it on.
I normally hate shopping but Christmas shopping is a whole different concept for me. I get a nice feeling shopping for gifts but I do also believe that Christmas has become too commercialized sometimes. I know we all have to make money but does every single commercial on the radio or tv need to be about some guy buying his wife a new diamond ring or luxury suv?
You can't go to Christmas or New Year's Eve parties without having to bring a gift. What happened to getting together just for the fun? Don't get me wrong, I still love it and enjoy giving gifts but it should be something you choose to do, not something you are required to do just to get in the door.
But hey, who cares right? For me Christmas is the best time of the year because I can sit with my children and watch the classic shows I grew up on, like Rudolph and Frosty. But also all the new movies and shows that they have come to like.
So for all you Christmas lovers and even the Scrooges, here are a couple sites for you to have a laugh at.
Merry Christmas to everyone here at Xomba!
