What is Cinco de Mayo? It is basically the date that people will hold a margarita in one hand and a traditional Mexican dish in the other as they listen to tunes of tearfu mariachi.

Basically, Cinco de Mayo, honors an ethnic and cultural legacy. Parade in Little Village and in downtown Chicago where multicolored dresses, floats, horsemen can be seen with lots of music.

But recalling history, May 5, 1862 is likewise a historical landmark when poorly trained and equiped Mexican Army defeated the French Army. As noted at the time, the French Army was considerd the most powerful.
