Is Clean Coal Technology Fact Or Fiction?

Today, clean coal is fiction - there is not a single coal burning power plant in the United States that actually captures and sequesters CO2 emissions. Someday clean coal may be a reality, but until then, no new "dirty" coal plants should be built...

Like the TV add shows -- there is no Clean Coal Technology

The reason T. Boone (Pickens) likes Compressed Natural Gas (mostly Methane, CH4) is that Natural Gas does not have to be imported. Natural Gas is a stop gap to plug the flow of money to the Middle East. We can easily power big rigs with it or propane for that matter. Coal is the very worst energy source pollutant. CNG is cleaner but still loads the air with CO2. Coal doesn't work for that -- and I suggest we leave it in the ground in case we need to eat it later. Same thing with Oil Shale and Tar Sands. I also propose prosecuting a President for maliciously damaging the environment for the purposes of profit at the risk of all humans and citizens on the planet. We can measure the rising actual damage atmospheric CO2 builds into the air. He and his, risk your (our) future for his profit. I conclude he has failed in really upholding all his sworn duties. This "keeping us safe" is a herring, and a Rove lie. His wars have endangered every American more than any other President. I would prosecute him for serious failures and his on-going lame duck attempts to further remove protections from environment abdications. For endangering species (about 1 million) not just polar bear and ringed seal, I would call the betrayal of our laws and constitution TREASON, as that is the covenant he has entered into with Oil and Fossil Carbon providers against our National Interests and national safety. He has virtually traded your future away. Obama might be able to help save it. The most recent Bush insult is permitting the dumping of coal "waste" into streams. Kinda like they knew this earthen dam was going to fail, and this new exculpatory regulation allows them to avoid much of the cleanup.

Another Strike Against "Clean Coal"

The recent coal sludge flood in Tennessee serves to illustrate further that generating electricity by burning coal is not as clean as Big Coal would have us believe. A flood of about 5.4 million cubic yards of coal fly ash, a byproduct of burning coal, broke out of a retention pond at a TVA coal fired power plant in eastern Tennessee. The sludge covered as much as 300 acres of land and damaged 12 homes. In addition to the mucky mess, an Environmental Protection Agency spokeswoman has said toxic metals, including mercury and arsenic, could also be in the sludge.
