Coachella Festival Line Up: Rage Against the Machine reunite for a nite
posted January 24, 2007 - 1:15pmI can not tell you how excited I am - oh wait, I just did. Both the Kooks and The Klaxons are on the bill for the third day of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts festival along with Headliners Rage Against the Machine. RATM headlined at Coachella in 1999, the festivals first year. Only this one show has been confirmed, by Tom Morello, and no official reunion has been announced. The LA Times has reported that Tom was the instigator in the reunion and has hinted that this may be the only reunion show.
In other Coachella related news The Klaxons new album, "Myths of the Near Future" drops next week. Its already leaked on the internet for all you computer savvy music lovers. Interpol is set for the first day of the festival and they are currently in the studio working on album no. three. The project is not yet titled and no other shows have been confirmed. Arcade Fire (Which I will be having a seperate xombyte for) are in post production of their new album "Neon Bible." I heard their new song "intervention" and it made me cry..sniff..sniff. Red Hot Chili Peppers are headlining the second day and if you are from outta state or from up North and a big fan i suggest you go to Disneyland after the show. During Disney's "Year of a Million Dreams" celebration, the indoor coaster ride Space Mountain has been turned into "Rockin' Space Mountain" and features the music of RHCP. The ride has added concert lights, strobe and other FX to give you the feel of a rock concert.
Gogol Bordello is also playing the festival and representing for the Nu Gypsy movement. I was actually shocked by the lack of Nu Gypsy artists. I didn't see Mystery Jets or Larrikin Love on the line up. How did they get missed? The line up is always filled with surprises like Lupe Fiasco and GhostFace killah. Two very awesome additions to the festival giving it an edge. See? It's not just weird indie bands! It's weird skate rap artists too! The most shocking addition and dissapointing artist is Fountains of Wayne. What the H E double hockey sticks is this? All these true blue artists and then the guys who sing "Stacy's mom has got it going on!"? RANDOM!
Kings of Leon and Kaiser Cheifs also have new albums coming out in the months leading up to Coachella.
Bands I'm surprised aren't playing???? Ummm...Bloc Party! Their album drops Feb. 6, so you would think they would be playing the main stage. The Horrors are missing in action as well what with their album in post production. However Bjork is headlining for the 100th time. I shouldn't talk shit though - I'll be there.
