Cold Strawberry Lemonade - Refreshing and Tasty on a Hot Summer's Day
posted August 10, 2008 - 4:50pmThere is nothing better on a hot summer's day than a tall cooooold glass of tart, refreshing lemonade! Unless, of course it's STRAWBERRY lemonade! Strawberries are an excellent source of Vitaman C and Flavonoids which are known for their antioxidant properties. Lemons are an excellent source of Vitamin C as well. Try this refreshing drink this summer!
2 Pints or 4 cups fresh or frozen Strawberries.
1/2 Cup Caster Sugar (equivalent amounts of Splenda or other sweetners may be substituted for sugar if you so choose)
1/2 Cup Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice
Water and Crushed Ice
1. Place strawberries, sugar and lemon juice in a blender. Blend until smooth.
2. Pour into a 2 quart pitcher. Fill with water and crushed ice.
3. Stir until well blended and cold.
4. Serve in a tall glass and garnish with a slice of strawberry and lemon. (serves four)
For a variation try substituting other fruits for the strawberries. Raspberries (red and black) go well with lemonade and contain significant amounts of anti-oxidants and are also high in dietary fiber. Mangoes are also a great addition for a tart summer lemonade and mangoes are also a wonderful overall nutritional source containing fiber, potassium, amino acids and high amounts of Vitamins A and C.
