Cold War Spy Planes in Alaska: Rivet Ball and Rivet Amber on Shemya island

Travel back in time, to the 1960s, to Alaska, to the Cold War, and learn
about the, then top secret, reconnaissance missions conducted by the two
U.S. Air Force planes known as Rivet Ball and Rivet Amber. These planes
were based on the island of Shemya, part of the Aleutian chain in the
Bering Sea. Their mission was to monitor the Soviet ICBM tests
conducted on the Kamchatka peninsula. Find out about the last missions
of these planes, the crash landing of Rivet Ball on a icy runway, but
with all crew surviving, and the disappearance of Rivet Amber at sea,
with all crew lost.
