Coldplay is going to give away its new single, "Violet Hill," free online. A notice on the Coldplay Web site says that the song, from the band's new album "Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends," will be available free online for one week starting on Tuesday, April 29th.

Check the Coldplay Web site, www.coldplay.com/index.html, on Tuesday morning for details on the free single. "Violet Hill" will also be given away in seven-inch vinyl form on the cover of the weekly music magazine NME on May 7th.

The new Coldplay album will be available in digital music stores on June 12th in the United Kingdom. The album is due to be released in the United States on June 17th.

Perhaps more interesting, Coldplay has announced it will do two free shows: London's Brixton Academy (June 16th) and New York's Madison Square Garden (June 23rd). Check the band's Web site above for details on how to try for the free Coldplay concert tickets.
