Colorado Legislator ends political career. Pool table, female Lobbyist. Everything!
posted February 2, 2008 - 12:50amA rising Colorado political star has withdrawn from his meteoric rise as an Hispanic leader in the Colorado legislature by apparently playing pool and drinking a little too much one evening at a billiards hall in the Denver Capitol Hill area. It was simply an accusation, a serious accusation, -- but placed in Republican hands it becomes a media event. There is even video footage of the pool hall/bar establishment on local Denver television.

Assistant Majority Leader resigns his legislative role on the basis of an accusation by a female lobbyist who reported the pool hall incident as a form of exposure. It was not explicitly communicated whether or not the lobbyists balls were also on the table, but something was.
Republicans in the State of Colorado are besides themselves with joy. The lobbyist did not go to the police with a complaint, but called two newspapers and a Republican blog tool to break the sensational "News."
Garcia apparently had been at a fund raiser prior to the accusation. Garcia responded that the accusations are inaccurate. He did not say unfounded, but knows his political career and future has been destroyed by an allegation. "The other party and I engaged in consensual conduct that was inappropriate given my position in the legislature and the fact that the other party is a lobbyist," he said.
Apparently the engagement is off.

House Minority Leader Mike May, R-Parker, said he had no idea that a lobbyist had gone to House Speaker Romanoff because the legislative rules forbid a House speaker from talking about a verbal complaint of sexual harassment.
Allegations are Republican goldmines!
