Complimentary Hotel Doodads
posted June 1, 2008 - 9:30pmWhen I was a kid and our family was on vacation, I always liked entering a hotel room in a new town after travelling all day long in our car. The best thing about going to a hotel was that my sister and I could go swimming if the hotel had a pool. The second biggest thing was that we could watch cable television. The third biggest thing was that we could examine the room for all of the tiny little doodads the maids leave behind in your room to make your stay enjoyable. The mint on the pillow. The little tiny soaps. And the Gideon Bible, which was always provided in a dresser drawer by the bed.
I found it charming that someone somewhere was kind enough to give us a free Bible. It made the hotel room feel homey.
Well, I mention all of this because nowdays--with the advent of the internet--Bibles are free also. It makes the internet actually feel as homey to me as those hotel rooms. I wanted to pass along my research about how to download the N.I.V. Bible, so you can have it wherever you want it. I guess you could even put it on a cellphone. (Imagine being texted by God.) Downloading the Bible is easy to do, but you must be careful find the best version available.
Here is my step-by-step article about it:
