The Conservative Crack-Up Deepens
Desperate times call for desperate measures. At least, that what it sounds like is happening in the conservative blogosphere. With John McCain's chances of becoming our next president growing bleaker by the day, panicked conservatives have been working the monkey strategy: fling poo.
The latest bit of poo-flinging involves the it-would-be-funny-were-it-not-so-pathetic claim that Bill Ayers and not Barack Obama wrote Obama's Dreams of My Father.
Fortunately for the overall reputation of conservatives, there are some conservatives for whom this falls under the heading of nutter territory. It doesn't stop the desperation, but at least some people are aware of the fact that the election will take place next month and that there is something of a reputation to consider for life after the election.

I read Cashill's analysis of Dreams from My Father. He does raise some pretty good points and there are some overly-coincidental similarities between the two writing styles that would be hard for Obama to explain. I think his arguments are valid and considering what we know of Obama and his always changing stories about who he knew and how deep those relationships were, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Ayers was the ghostwriter of this book.
I'm sure you've read the actual story, but here's the link just in case:
Who Wrote 'Dreams from My Father'?
I'm not saying that Cashill is right about everything, but it does raise more questions about the authenticity of Barack Obama. It would really help Obama if he could get his story straight about his past - which he continually tries to hide.

That's true, Publius
But I doubt people are going to really follow the he said-he said nature of the backstory when they are without a job and without hope because of the state of the economy. Call it a perfect storm for Obama, if you will, but there are far more important things at play than who helped or didn't help someone write a book. If McCain wants any chance at winning next month, then he should be speaking to the very real concerns that real Americans have and stop the hate-mongering that has become a signature of his and Palin's campaigns of late.
DO YOU HAVE THE WRITE STUFF?
